The airbrush should be covered with a protective layer of varnish, in which we will help paint the sprayer. It will be described how to choose the spray gun for a particular compressor and accessories to avoid defects in a paint coating and without problems “cover” their airbrush with varnish.
You can find many reviews and offers on the Internet to buy a particular model. The price of the paint sprayers under discussion can be very high, having learned which immediately sinks one’s hands. But it’s not all so terrible.
Expensive models are discussed by professionals who have worked at car repair shops for a long time, and their budget for this sprayer starts from 5-7 thousand rubles. And all because they are confident in the number of customers who order their services and a good tool will soon recoup the investment. In addition to expensive models and budget models, the cost of which can be in the vicinity of 800 r. to 2 t.r. Such a spray gun is good to buy as a first to learn.
Spray Gun and Paint Sprayer
A paint sprayer and a paint sprayer are the same things. The paint sprayers include the so-called mini jets; the difference is their small nozzle size (a nozzle size of 0.5 mm, 0.8 mm, or 1 mm). In addition, miniaturization is characterized by the body of the tool and the container under the paint.
MiniJet
The mini jets can be airbrushes and classic spray guns. They differ from airbrush-style airbrushes by having a “trigger” rather than a trigger, which, when pressed, delivers compressed air and paint almost simultaneously (the air is fed a little earlier to avoid paint spitting).
HP, HVLP, LVLP models
The paint sprayers also differ in the way the consumable is transferred to the surface. The first models invented (HP (High Pressure)) were bulky and required high pressure, large quantities of air, and material to operate. Most of the consumable material escaped into the ambient air instead of covering the surface.
American environmentalists were the first to take an interest in this situation and created a standard (VOC) for limiting the VOC content of paintwork materials and their release into the atmosphere. The environmentally-conscious Europeans then supported this standard. Paint sprayer manufacturers had no choice but to develop models which met the standard. This is how HVLP spray guns (High Volume Low Pressure) were invented. These sprayers allow up to 90% of the spray material to be transferred to the surface. Not only are these models environmentally friendly and productive, but they also create a good working environment for the painter without creating excessive “fog” in the paint box.
Other LVLP (Low Volume Low Pressure) models are something in between. They differ from HVLP in that the distance between the surface and the gun during operation is 15-25 cm. This distance allows you to paint hard-to-reach places where HVLP spray guns can’t reach.
An important characteristic of the spray gun is the size of the nozzle (nozzle). Its size can be from 0,5 mm up to 2 mm depending on sprayed material (paint, varnish, primer). We are interested in car paint or varnish coating of small surfaces, not more than 1 sq.m. Therefore I advise you to buy for varnish coating mini-jets of HVLP system with nozzle diameter frItyou want to teach; it is enough to have a model if you want to teach0.8 mm or 1 mm nozzle.
Your choice of HVLP system is confirmed by the fact that some only reputable companies produce mins of this system. Such a tool will allow you to varnish a laptop, the case of a system unit, and even the hood of a car.
If you already have a compressor, find out the compressor capacity before buying a paint sprayer. Preferably, the air consumption of the paint sprayer should be 30% less than the compressor’s capacity. The ideal is when the sprayer consumes half the air capacity of the compressor. I reviewed an example of how a particular airbrush and compressor work in my article Choosing a Compressor for Airbrushing.
I wrote about additional equipment in a separate article, Additional equipment for the airbrush. In this article you will read how to avoid possible mistakes and defects when painting the surface by installing additional equipment on the airbrush.
